Cisco AnyConnect VPN For Districts & External Accounts

Overview:

NWOCA uses the Cisco AnyConnect VPN software for remote access to district networks. Below are instructions on how to log in for district and external accounts with and without Duo Multifactor Authentication.

Getting Help:

Using the VPN requires your account to be set up ahead of time. If you need access to the VPN, please have your IT administrator submit a ticket to our IT Services Group.

Changing & Resetting Your Password:

If you forget your password and need it reset or have to change a temporary one you can do so at pass.nwoca.org. Changing your password is the first step after receiving a new VPN account.

Signing Into A VPN Account:

  1. If you have just received your temporary VPN account password or have forgotten your password, please change it using pass.nwoca.org.

  2. Open Cisco AnyConnect. (Installation instructions)

  3. Enter your district-specific URL: vpn.nwoca.org/districtURL. (usually, this is the name of your district)

  4. Enter your username and password. Usernames are case-sensitive.

  5. After signing in AnyConnect will establish the VPN session.

  6. Once connected the AnyConnect Window will automatically close.

Signing Into A VPN Account With Duo MFA:

  1. If you have just received your temporary VPN account password or have forgotten your password, please change it using pass.nwoca.org.

  2. If you have not already enrolled with Duo Security, please use the link provided in the invitation email. If the link has expired please contact your IT administrator.

  3. Open Cisco AnyConnect. (Installation instructions)

  4. Enter vpn.nwoca.org/districtmfa at the "Ready to connect" window after launching the program.

  5. Enter your username and password followed by “push“ for the Duo Prompt/Second Password.

    1. Usernames are case-sensitive.

    2. Additional Duo Prompt/Second Password options are in section 5C below.

       

    3. Additional Duo Prompt/Second Password Options:

      • Using the passcode from the Duo Mobile app:

        • Enter the passcode from the Duo app, then click ok.

      • Using a Security key:

        • Enter the code displayed on the security key, then click ok.

  6. After signing in AnyConnect will establish the VPN session.

  7. Once connected the AnyConnect Window will automatically close.

Multiple Enrolled Devices:

You can also specify a number after the factor name if you have more than one device enrolled (as the automatic push or phone call goes to the first capable device attached to a user). So you can enter push2 or phone2 if you have two phones enrolled and you want the authentication request to go to the second phone.
