Overtime Classification Fields Mass Load Checklist
The Position record now has a new field called Overtime Classification.
If the Position is exempt from overtime reporting, the value should be set to Exempt.
If the Position is not exempt from overtime reporting, the value should be set to Non Exempt.
If the Position>Overtime Classification value is blank, the system defaults to including the Position - meaning non-exempt.
It is strongly recommended this value be set accordingly as soon as possible. Below are the instructions on how to Mass Load the Overtime Classification exempt or non-exempt status for each employee position.
For ongoing updates about the 2026 Overtime Calculation visit the SSDT Page Reporting Overtime Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

If you wish to add additional info to your report, continue with the full instructions below.
Creating the Mass Load File in USPS
Go to Core > Position.
On the Position Grid, click on the More button and add the following column headers listed below. You can keep as much detail you’d like, for example, Position description, in order to decide whether or not the employee will receive overtime on that position. However, the following are the minimum columns you must have in order to Mass Load the data back into the system.
Position #
Employee Number
(optional) Employee Last Name & First Name
Overtime Classification
Retirement Code
Once you have the correct columns, click on the Report button. Generate the report using the Excel-Field Names format option.
View your Excel file. Enter the following values in the Overtime Classification column for each employee’s position.
EXEMPT (Case sensitive) -or-
NON_EXEMPT (Case sensitive)
Once you’ve filled out each Overtime Classification, remove any unnecessary columns. The only columns/headers should be the following:
employee.number
number (Position Number)
overtimeClassification
EXEMPT (Case sensitive)
NON_EXEMPT (Case sensitive)
Save your Excel file as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. Save it to your computer somewhere you can find it for the upload.
Go back into USPS. Click on Utilities > Mass Load.
USPS Load File - Choose the CSV file saved on your computer
Importable Entities: Position
Click Load.
You will receive Import results with the number of successful changes and any errors that may appear.
If there are Errors - View the downloaded Errors report and make your corrections before re-uploading.
You have successfully updated the Overtime Classification status. We recommend spot-checking a few employees you know are non-exempt to confirm the update is correct.
